A Numerically Stable Procedure for Canonical Coordinates in 2D
نویسنده
چکیده
This note describes a numerically stable procedure to derive a canonical coordinate system for a 2D linear transformation. The determinant of the transformation from the given coordinate system to the canonical coordinate system is 1; thus area is preserved. The transformation is composed of a short sequence of rotations and areapreserving nonuniform scales. If the eigenvectors are real, they map into axes in the canonical coordinate system. If the eigenvectors are complex, the transformation becomes rotationally invariant in the canonical coordinate system. The numerically difficult case is when the transformation is nonsingular, yet the eigenvectors are very nearly colinear.

GENERAL SOLUTION OF ELASTICITY PROBLEMS IN TWO DIMENSIONAL POLAR COORDINATES USING MELLIN TRANSFORM
Abstract In this work, the Mellin transform method was used to obtain solutions for the stress field components in two dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in terms of plane polar coordinates. the Mellin transformation was applied to the biharmonic stress compatibility equation expressed in terms of the Airy stress potential function, and the boundary value problem transformed to an algebraic ...
متن کاملOn a Simple Overlapping State-space Parametrization for Linear Time Series Models
We consider a new state-space parametrization for linear time series models: data driven coordinates (DDC), which provides an atlas for the manifold of (stable) p×m transfer functions of fixed McMillan degree n. Hence, DDC has similar desirable properties as more traditional overlapping parametrizations and better than classical canonical forms. Moreover, the choice of charts can be done in a d...
متن کاملElzaki transform method for finding solutions to two-dimensional elasticity problems in polar coordinates formulated using Airy stress functions
In this paper, the Elzaki transform method is used for solving two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in plane polar coordinates. Airy stress function was used to express the stress compatibility equation as a biharmonic equation. Elzaki transform was applied with respect to the radial coordinate to a modified form of the stress compatibility equation, and the biharmonic equation simplified t...
متن کاملConvergence of a Fourier - Spline Representation for the Full - turn Map Generator
Single-turn data from a symplectic tracking code can be used to construct a canonical generator for a full-turn symplectic map. This construction has been carried out numerically in canonical polar coordinates, the generator being obtained as a Fourier series in angle coordinates with coe cients that are spline functions of action coordinates. Here we provide a mathematical basis for the proced...
